Aloha, I’m Malulani Moreno, an astrologer in Hawaii offering professional birth chart readings. As you might expect for someone with a Mercury-ruled chart, I’m a jack of all trades. I’ve worked as a newspaper reporter, freelance writer, and magazine editor, and continue to work in communications. Throughout my 20s, I taught yoga and meditation and earned a massage certification. I am a Certified Biddy Tarot Advisor and my interest in astrology dates back to my early days in high school.

I’ve studied Hellenistic Astrology with Demetra George, Chris Brennan and Kelly Surtees. I continue to train, study, research and hone my skills in traditional astrology to bring you the very best that this practice has to offer. I’m currently doing research into the Hawaiian-named asteroids Haumea, Hi’iaka, Namaka, ʻOumuamua, and Leleākūhonua.

My practice is a blend of modern and traditional. While I do use the outer planets (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, and sometimes Chiron), I do not give them rulership over signs — I treat them like fast-moving fixed stars. I use a mixture of ancient techniques like Circumambulations Through the Bounds (my primary timing tool) and Annual Profections, alongside modern techniques like Secondary Progressions and real-time transits. This blend gives you the symbolic richness of contemporary astrology coupled with the precision and practicality of our astrological ancestors.
